Rick discovers the hard way that his agreement with the Hilltop community to provide protection from Negan and the Saviors is not the walkover he thought it would be. Negan proves to be a cold, merciless in-control killer who reminds me of the grasshopper leader in "A Bug's Life". Indeed, Negan's whole setup mirrors the way the grasshoppers dominate the ants in that movie. Negan chooses one of Rick's group to show what he is capable of, and a longtime character is brutally beaten to death before their eyes. In a series that has always shown us that the living are more dangerous than the walking dead, this smiling killer is a new kind of horror that will test Rick's inner strength like never before as he strives to find a way to protect his own small community.

Since I'm not caught up on the comics, I knew who was going to die and (roughly) when, but not how (I somehow managed to avoid that spoiler). I think that actually made it worse, because I KNEW that one of my favorite characters was about to bite the bullet. And when it happened? I was GUTTED. No other word to describe it. Robert Kirkman is a sadistic SOB.

I spoke too soon in my last review of the previous Walking Dead installment, shit just got real. Just when I think the gang might be able to catch a break, PSYCH! let the awfulness continue. We know have a new crazy psycho enemy in the picture and he just might be worse than the governor, hard to believe right? Wrong, this guy is plain crazy. We are also introduced to another community, a seemingly good one, albeit crazy. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next installment when it comes out in the fall. I must know what happens!!!

Negan. What an asshole. Similar to the Governor that we saw before him. Birds of a feather and all that. Be prepared for some deaths of favorite characters in this installment. I was gutted. Jesus is my new favorite character. I hope to hell I didn’t just get him killed because people think George RR Martin is ruthless when it comes to fan favorites. He’s got nothing on Kirkman. Anyway, Carl. I wish he would die. I’m sorry, was that cold? Too bad. I really can’t stand the little shit. All-in-all the tension is really starting to ratchet up and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
