Set in Liverpool and Ireland this is an interesting twist on some celtic legends and while she twists a few of them she keeps the spirit well. Lily McCain tends to avoid touching people, often when she touches them she sees their future, often their death, she works as a music journalist and her eccentricity adds to her reputation rather than detracts from it, her best friend works the night shift and looks out for her, Carmel is used to strange as many of the phone calls she gets at night are strange and unusual.Nothing prepared them for a stranger who walks into a bar Lily is working in, and discovers that in fact, her life is stranger than she thought and the future is in her hands, the future of humanity and the world.I liked Lily, she's battered and bruised by her experiences but she still keeps trying and when she eventually learns how to use her power she's aware of consequences. She's also not willing to take someone's word for it that this is how it will be but wants answers of her own, satisfying answers. Yay for a backbone!I liked it, I want more.
