Everything: Big Cats : Pictures to Purr About and Info to Make You Roar! Paperback
Big cats are nothing like your average tabby. They're designed to be fast, intelligent, and powerful.
Sharp claws and dagger-like teeth combined with the ability to silently stalk, jump long distances, and see in virtual darkness make these cats fierce predators. "Everything Big Cats" explores the world of these extraordinary and endangered creatures.
Kids will learn what characteristics define a big cat, about their daily lives, about hybrids and cats in captivity, conservation efforts, and much more.
An expert's corner feature provides exciting, real-life experiences with big cats from National Geographic photographers Dereck and Beverly Joubert.

Theme:Geography, scienceReview: One of the major advantages of children's magazine is that it is replete with fantastic visual aids and big bold fonts that are easy read. I especially enjoyed variety of pictures. Both pictures and writings are enlarged, so it would be perfect if children sat around in a circle and teacher held the magazine while discussing and letting students explore the content. There is a short quiz at the end which students can take as part of the closure activity or informal assessment. Curriculum ties: Geography (animal habitats), science (animal life cycle, what food they eat, compare and contrast with humans with graphic organizer, family tree), P.E. (jumping contest), social studies (cultural aspect), language arts (vocabulary, creative writing/daily journal prompts e.g., if I were one of the big cats, I would be...because...)
