The high rating is chiefly for "Summer Food," which is what I would eat all year round if good tomatoes were always available. "Mediterranean Food" is her first book and not quite Elizabeth David as full blown Elizabeth David; plus we have seen so much of that food become standard in the West that her recipes seem antiquated rather than fresh. "French Country Cooking" is all right but doesn't compare to "French Provincial Cooking."
