It's back to Egypt for this book as Amelia and Emerson return alone for a second honeymoon. Inevitably things go wrong and Emerson is kidnapped by a gang seeking information about the lost civilisation Amelia and Emerson discovered in The Tiger in the Smoke. Although Amelia pulls off a daring rescue she's too late to rescue Emerson's memory. As Amelia fights to restore Emerson's memory she has to contend with attempts on both their lives. Despite these trials this is a fun instalment in the series, Emerson's amnesia is a nice device reminding us of the beginnings of Emerson's and Amelia's relationship. Although they've left Ramses at home he's not silent as Amelia receives as series of hilarious letters detailing shenanigans at home.
