This much-loved classic picture book follows the caterpillar's week while he eats through a range of foods in preparation for his hibernation and subsequent appearance as a beautiful butterfly.
With its die-cut pages and holes to explore, this is a richly satisfying book for children.

The story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar is a simple one that emphasizes numbers and days of the week. After the caterpillar pops out of an egg on Sunday he eats his way through the pages of the book and days of the week. He starts with on apple on Monday and ends with 5 oranges on Friday then goes crazy with chocolate cake, ice cream, a pickle, Swiss cheese, salami, a lollipop, cherry pie, sausage, a cupcake, and watermelon on Saturday. It's a fun book that kids love and helps teach them days of the week and counting. The very hungry caterpillar ends up with a stomach ache which is helped by a serving of a green leaf. He then builds a cocoon and two weeks later he emerges a beautiful butterfly. The illustrations are colorful and add to the story and the appeal to children. Each page has a hole in it that the caterpillar has eaten and each day that the caterpillar eats more the pages are bigger. I highly recommend this book. I loved it as a child and kids still love it today.
