The Snowmelt River, Paperback Book
3.5 out of 5 (1 rating)

On the summit of the fabled mountain Slievenamon in Ireland there is a doorway to an ancient land of terrible power.

The gate of Feimhin has lain closed for centuries, the secret of its opening long lost.

But now four orphans drawn together by Fate must pass through the portal to face their destinies.

What they find beyond is the enchanted but war-ravaged world of T r, a strange land peopled by beings of magic.

Here death waits at every corner and they must learn to fight if they are to survive. And they'd better learn quickly, because their enemy, the Tyrant of the Wastelands, is growing in power.

Review by

Another slightly disappointing book, I just wasn't pulled into the world, even though it displays some of my favourite tropes.Four orphans living in a village are drawn together and then go up Slievenamann to face their destiny. When there they find themselves in another world in the hands of the Earth Mother who changes them to fit their destiny, entertainingly using their mobile phones for some of the raw material. The four have to learn to use their abilities to help this world defeat a great evil.It didn't really draw me in nor did I really feel that I had any real connection with the characters. I felt that there could have been more and better here. Still not bad, just somehow lacked something for me.
