5 out of 5 (1 rating)

This is the amazing conclusion to the award-winning series.

The dangerous but charismatic Ack-Ack Macaque finds himself leading a dimension-hopping army of angry monkeys, facing an invading horde of implacable killer androids, and confronting the one challenge for which he was never prepared: impending fatherhood!

Meanwhile, former journalist Victoria Valois fights to save the electronic ghost of her dead husband and reclaim his stolen soul from the sands of Mars.

Review by

Ack-Ack Macaque saves the world (again), firing his trusty Colts and wielding a chainsaw. While swearing. A lot. Aboard a 2 km airship. Across the multiverse. With an army of uplifted talking monkeys and apes. And a batshit crazy plot twist that I’ve been hotly anticipating since Gareth L Powell tweeted his very first hint. Astonishingly, it all works brilliantly. A book this much fun could stand on superb plotting alone. But we get a range of great characters you can really believe in. Oh, and underneath it all, serious questions about what it means to be human.
