Stormlord Rising Paperback
by Glenda Larke
Part of the The Stormlord Trilogy series
The last Stormlord is dead - and war has arrived. The nomadic Reduners have put the Quartern's rainlords to the sword, leaving their cities without water or hope.
Shale still lives, despite being betrayed, drugged and sold to his greatest enemy.
Yet Shale needs his adversary more than his freedom, as thousands will die if they don't channel the rains together.
For Shale isn't a Stormlord in his own right - at least, not yet.
Only Terelle could help him now, but she's a prisoner herself and far from home. And a new force is rising in the desert. While kept as a Reduner whore, Rainlord Ryka Feldspar witnesses a power that can move the sands themselves.
The Reduners are hailing this power as god-given, and its impact could transform a world.

It took me forever to get into this story, it really dragged for me until the last about 200 pages when I got caught up in the story. The nomadic Reduners have destroyed the Quarterns cities and taken many of the people hostage. Shale lives, relying on his enemy to survive and to get rain to the remaining few cities. Ryka Feldspar is pregnant and trying to survive, captured as a slave and forced into the bed of their next leader. It felt to me that there was a little bit too much going on, Very scattered and I honestly didn't care for most of the characters, they just blurred into a complicated mess for me and I kept putting dow this book to read other things. I honestly nearly gave up, but then I got to the last 200 pages and it moved quite quickly. I really don't think I'll be reading the next book in the series though.
