IMAX: Secrets of the Ancients Collection Blu-ray

A double-bill of historical documentaries, originally filmed in IMAX. 'Mummies - Secrets of the Pharoahs' charts the ancient Egyptian tradition of mummification and is narrated by Christopher Lee (who starred in the 1959 motion picture, 'The Mummy').

The Egyptians believed that they could gain better control over their destinies by mummifying their ancestors as a sign of respect, since they believed their fates were at the will of the gods.

A team of scientists and explorers attempt to gain insight into the medicine and technology of today by studying that of the past.

They use advanced DNA technology to reconstruct mummies, and decipher ancient manuscripts. 'Greece - Secrets of the Past' explores this ancient civilisation, and uses CGI to recreate some of the most important sites in the country. The programme re-examines the eruption which all but destroyed the volcanic island of Santorini, and takes a fresh look at the Parthenon, restored to all its former glory.

The show also explores the history behind the birthplace of democracy and Western civilisation.
