Review by AlyssaF.B1
In the book "Pandemonium" Lauren Oliver tells the story of Lena after she escaped her past and the death of the people most dear to her. It starts with Lena half dead in the Wilds and eventually saved by Raven, an Invalid. She is nursed to health by Raven and is taught that the past is dead and that Lena can build a new life out of Alex's death. Lena then experiences being bombed by the regulators and life in the Wilds. Raven and Tack, an Invalid also, decide to take Lena with them to become part of the resistance, a group of invalids and sympathizers who either faked getting the cure scar or had the cure but it didn't work that live in the cities and pose as normal citizens and help other Invalids. Lena then goes on a mission to pose as a member of the DFA (Deliria Free America) group organised to rid the world of the disease. The leader is Thomas Fineman and his son Julian hasn't had his cure yet even though he is old enough do to medical conditions. Lena goes to a meeting and is told to follow Julian. She does and ends up kidnapped underground in a room with Julian. They escape and regulators find Julian with Lena and decide to execute him for getting "diseased" when he was part of the DFA. Lena rescues him and Julian, Lena, Raven, and Tack end up escaping into the wilds to reunite with their former invalid friends. Lena gets caught will julian by Alex who was alive all this time looking for Lena. I really liked the idea of Lena becoming part of the resistance and "Spying" on the DFA because in the first book Lena was all innocent and this hows a different side of Lena. I really like how Lena's character develops along this story. It had a lot of action and Lena's point of view of the government changes as she discovers secrets. I loved the character Julian and his background because he is really important to the DFA and how he changes and leaves behind his family for Lena. I gave this book five stars because I loved everything about it.
