Review by MCHBurke
How much you enjoy this book will be dependent on how appropriately you set your expectations. Primarily a book of photographs, this book shows some beautiful homes. The book is divided into 4 sections: Passive Energy Strategies, Active Energy Strategies, Prefab Constructions (which was probably my favorite), and Innovative Ideas (which focused on furniture and smaller design elements). Not intended to be an in-depth resource, the idea tips connected with each house are very brief, often just a sentence or two. for example, idea 25 reads, "It is now recognized that indoor plants are able to cleanse the air and improve the chemical composition of interior environments." (That's the full idea; not the first sentence of a longer paragraph.) If you want to browse images of beautiful, eco-conscious residences, this is a great book. But if you're looking for eco-home design details, a more in-depth resource will be necessary.
