Clear Waters Rising : A Mountain Walk Across Europe Paperback
Alone - though he was just married - and on foot, Nicholas Crane embarked on an extraordinary adventure: a seventeen-month journey along the chain of mountains which stretches across Europe from Cape Finisterre to Istanbul.
His aim was to explore Europe's last mountain wilderness and to meet the people who live on the periphery of the modern world.

Evocative. Makes you want to put on your walking shoes.
Review by Seajack
Crane's transcontinental trek was a fine achievement, and the book is well-written, but the story never really seemed to "come alive" for me - not even when he unexpectedly found himself face-to-face with a bear.
