Perfect practical introduction to UML. This get's you up to speed quickly on the practice of using UML for real software development. By this I mean that the book will quickly show you how to create diagrams that communicate about your software systems. It's clean of the meta-narrative that so often fills books about UML. At the same time, it's not a diagram only book -- it still communicates the higher purposes of UML. Notes for Java developers are a big help. Perhaps the only drawback would be that this book is not the theoretical kind. If you're a powerful UML user looking for insights into the meta-sphere, perhaps you need one of the more seminal texts.
