Review by bibliobeck
This is the first book I've read by Stephen Leather, but it won't be the last. I thoroughly enjoyed this thriller with a twist and came to really like the protagonist Jack Nightingale. It's a great concept for a thriller - an estranged son finds out he's inherited a country mansion, a library full of books on the Occult and a stack of bills... oh and the father he never met sold his soul to a devil and it's only three weeks until the due date, Nightingale's 33rd birthday. Some nice black humour, twists and turns and an ever increasing body count kept me hooked. I found this a great, quick read, totally escapist and thoroughly enjoyable. Looking forward to the next in the series.
