Description

American drama written and directed by Oren Moverman.

Richard Gere plays down on his luck George Hammond who is thrown out of his scruffy Manhattan apartment by his landlord (Steve Buscemi).

At first he walks the streets and asks for change before staying at the Bellevue Hospital, the largest refuge for homeless men in Manhattan.

The story follows George as he navigates the bureaucracy required to get a bed and a meal voucher at the Bellevue, and his attempts to repair relations with his estranged daughter Maggie (Jena Malone).

Another client at the Hospital, talkative Dixon (Ben Vereen) helps George come to terms with his homeless status in this sensitive depiction.
