This is a world divided by blood - red or silver. The Reds are commoners, ruled by a Silver elite in possession of god-like superpowers. And to Mare Barrow, a seventeen-year-old Red girl from the poverty-stricken Stilts, it seems like nothing will ever change. That is, until she finds herself working in the Silver Palace.
Here, surrounded by the people she hates the most, Mare discovers that, despite her red blood, she possesses a deadly power of her own.
One that threatens to destroy the balance of power. Fearful of Mare's potential, the Silvers hide her in plain view, declaring her a long-lost Silver princess, now engaged to a Silver prince.
Despite knowing that one misstep would mean her death, Mare works silently to help the Red Guard, a militant resistance group, and bring down the Silver regime. But this is a world of betrayal and lies, and Mare has entered a dangerous dance - Reds against Silvers, prince against prince, and Mare against her own heart ...

Review by wyvernfriend
In a world where there are people who bleed silver and people who bleed red, the silver have the power and the powers, basically superheroes. They rule this world and treat the Reds badly. When Mare visits the Silver city to try to steal enough to help herself and a friend avoid the draft it sets things on a path from which there is no return. It happens that she has power, power she shouldn't have as a Red, so the Silvers pretend that she's a lost one of them. She ends up engaged to the second son of the royal dynasty. She has to learn to survive but there are plots that involve her and to add to things she's attracted to the Prince royal. It could be great, and there's a lot riding on the next book in the series but it sounds like a pretty typical teen destroy the corrupt system story. Though there were points in the story that took me by surprise.
