Someone to Watch Over Me Paperback
Part of the Thora Gudmundsdottir series
A creepy, compelling thriller, SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER ME is the fifth Thora Gudmundsdottir novel from Yrsa, 'Iceland's answer to Stieg Larsson' (Daily Telegraph).
A young man with Down's Syndrome has been convicted of burning down his care home and killing five people, but a fellow inmate at his secure psychiatric unit has hired Thora to prove Jakob is innocent.
If he didn't do it, who did? And how is the multiple murder connected to the death of Magga, killed in a hit and run on her way to babysit?

Review by annbury
This book is the fourth in an Icelandic series about lawyer Thora Gudmundsdottir, and in my view the best of the lot. It takes place in the aftermath of Iceland's financial crisis, which affects almost everyone in the novel, including Thora and her rambunctious family. This isn't a financial thriller, however -- Thora becomes involved in unravelling a horrific crime that took place at a home for mentally disabled people. In so doing, she learns a lot about such people, and develops real empathy for them. But as interesting as the background themes may be, it's the story that caught me in this one. This is one of those mysteries you don't want to put down until you have finished it, because "whodunnit" is such a driving force in the story. I was tempted to give it five stars, but stuck to my four star max for thrillers. A very good book.
