One of my favorite children's books.
Read this with "Sylvester & the Magic Pebble" and you should scar your kid for life. This story is about a little birt that fall out of its nest and wants to find its mother. After searching high & low, even asking a "snort," it finds the happy ending it's been looking for.
You could use this book for teaching punctuation and expression. It could also be used for prediction to see if the baby bird ever finds his mom. Students would like this book because it teaches them the lesson to "never give up" on what you are trying to find.
Are You My Mother? follows a confused baby bird who's been denied the experience of imprinting as he asks cows, planes, and steam shovels the Big Question. In the end he is happily reunited with his maternal parent in a glorious moment of recognition.
