Beginner Books are designed to encourage even 'non-reading' children to read. This Green Back Book will boost the confidence of children who have just started to read on their own. Some Beginner Books are simple stories, others are hilarious nonsense: both types have been designed to give children confidence and make them want to go on reading.

  • Read this with "Sylvester & the Magic Pebble" and you should scar your kid for life. This story is about a little birt that fall out of its nest and wants to find its mother. After searching high & low, even asking a "snort," it finds the happy ending it's been looking for.

  • Are You My Mother? follows a confused baby bird who's been denied the experience of imprinting as he asks cows, planes, and steam shovels the Big Question. In the end he is happily reunited with his maternal parent in a glorious moment of recognition.

  • "Are you My Mother" is one of my all-time favorite children's books! I can distinctly remember my mother reading this book to me night after night. My favorite part in the book is when the baby bird finally finds his mother even though the journey along the way is hilarious! The bird asks several different animals if they are his mother! I will definitely have this book available in my classroom no matter the age I teach!
