This book is great! I love the original idea of having the print be journal "handwriting" and the illustrations be things Greg would have doodled in the journal he kept. I felt like I could relate to the character, because even though he's a boy, I felt like the 56th or 57th most popular kid in my class growing up, just like him. Greg goes through a lot of humorous situations throughout the book, both in school and at home in family life. It's an excellent book and put together very well!Fourth graders and up will enjoy reading this. I think it's something that many boys will relate to and will love reading. They'll want to read the other books in the series and see the new movie as well. I have a feeling 7th and 8th graders might feel like they are tool old for it, however, older people will also like it. My husband picked it up out of the pile of books I brought home from the library one night, having heard good things about it from our nephews. He read it in bed the next few nights and laughed pretty hard at some parts!

Funny and heartwarming, this novel follows Greg Heffley, a middle schooler, and his experiences with school, friends and life in general. I believe this would be a great novel for kids of the same age, who can see themselves in some of his experiences.
