All the other birds have laid an egg, except duck. Good fortune prevails however and duck finds an egg! An enormous, green-speckled, odd egg. Of course all the other birds laugh, but just who has the last laugh?! Read and find out! Another clever book by Gravett who has a knack for suprise, quirky endings. Be sure to read this book through to the end before you share it with your young child! Especially if your child is a bit sensitive! I do not want to give anything away, but personally I must say that if you really look at the picture, all is fine :)
I thought this was a fun spin-off about the "Ugly Duckling" except it was about an odd egg & waiting for it to hatch. The story line & anticipation that Emily Gravett creates is very entertaining. Very fun book to read over & over!
Could be used with younger students for them to predict what is going to hatch at the end. Could teach all students that outcomes are not always predictable or favorable.
An interesting book to read to students to teach them to be nice to others and not judge others based upon their looks.
