  • All the other birds have laid an egg, except duck. Good fortune prevails however and duck finds an egg! An enormous, green-speckled, odd egg. Of course all the other birds laugh, but just who has the last laugh?! Read and find out! Another clever book by Gravett who has a knack for suprise, quirky endings. Be sure to read this book through to the end before you share it with your young child! Especially if your child is a bit sensitive! I do not want to give anything away, but personally I must say that if you really look at the picture, all is fine :)

  • I thought this was a fun spin-off about the "Ugly Duckling" except it was about an odd egg & waiting for it to hatch. The story line & anticipation that Emily Gravett creates is very entertaining. Very fun book to read over & over!

  • Could be used with younger students for them to predict what is going to hatch at the end. Could teach all students that outcomes are not always predictable or favorable.

  • An interesting book to read to students to teach them to be nice to others and not judge others based upon their looks.
