Description

In the middle of the Indian Ocean, a NUMA research vessel is taking water samples at sunset, when a crew member spots a sheen of black oil ahead of them. But it is not oil. Like a horde of army ants, a swarm of black particles suddenly attacks the ship, killing everyone aboard, while the ship itself goes up in flames. A few hours later, Kurt Austin and Joe Zavala are on their way to the Indian Ocean. What they will find there on the smoldering hulk of the ship will eventually lead them to the discovery of the most audacious scheme they have ever known: a plan to permanently alter the weather on a global scale. It will kill millions ...and it has already begun.

  • This story is like something out of the future and leaves one wondering if such a feat is actually possible at this point in time. I have learned over time not to second guess the author. Kurt and Joe find themselves against all odds in "The Storm" when taking on this ruthless billionaire and his horde. They continue to find themselves in and out of what seems like an impossible situation, leaving the reader on edge to see how they will escape. Solutions are normally something the reader never even considers. Clive is a great story teller and surprises us with technology and other nuances, I especially like the moving island in this story. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to the next one.John PodlaskiAuthor, Cherries - A Vietnam War Novel

  • The premise of this book reminded me a lot of a recent book by Michael Crichton called Micro what with the idea of microbots. This is one of the few books by Cussler that actually had a storyline that was believable.

  • The Storm was another fun fast-paced story about Dirk Pitt, oops I mean Kurt Austin... This isn't the first time nanobots are used as a terror inducing tool buy an author, though it came closer to using them in a way that was possible than others I've read. Nano technology and it's possible uses both good and bad are incredible. The story was about a man who wanted power and decided he wanted control of the weather, across the planet. he got pretty close too. There was lots of action and lots of near death experiences for our heroes while they try to save the day. Fun read, not very deep. Entertaining.
