Description
Three dramas based on classic tales and historical events. Patrick Stewart heads the cast of 'Moby Dick' (1998), a modern reworking of Herman Melville's novel. He stars as the obsessive Captain Ahab, whose life quest is to hunt and kill the titular whale. Gregory Peck (who played Ahab in the 1956 cinematic version) appears in a supporting role. The lives and loves of the Titanic's various passengers are dramatised in 'Titanic' (1996), a made-for-television recreation of the ill-fated cruise. In London, 1912, pickpocket Jamie Perse (Mike Doyle) manages to thieve his way to a passage on the new liner, the Titanic. Mingling with high society, Jamie spots a fellow criminal, the ruthless Simon Doonan (Tim Curry), and realises that he is out to rob the first class passengers, and will blow Jamie's cover if crossed, ruining Jamie's attempt to make a new start. 'Noah's Ark' (1999) is an epic retelling of the famous Bible story. God is planning to flood the world, but he doesn't want this to be the end, he wants to make sure that it can be re-populated when the floodwaters recede. So he calls on Noah (Jon Voight) and tells him to build a boat, a boat big enough to carry two members - one male, one female - of every animal species on earth. Noah complies and when the rains begin, he and his family round up the animals and commence their voyage.
