A little bit about us
We are an independent bookshop and coffee bar which have been in existence along with our sister shop in West Kirby for well over 20 years.
Originally owned by a local businessman and then sold in 2006 to a company based in the south of England, this year has seen some major changes in ownership following a management buyout, and on March 25th the Heswall shop was restored to ownership by a local family. Sadly, the West Kirby shop is no longer in existence but some of their staff have transferred to Heswall where it is hoped we can all continue to give Wirral residents the high quality service they have come to expect.
Besides stocking a wide range of books to suit all tastes we also have an extremely efficient ordering system (usually within 24 hour turnaround) it is not unusual for a book to be ordered at 4:30 in the evening and to be in the shop by 10 a.m. the next day. Books can be ordered over the phone or online. Our staff are highly knowledgeable and love talking about books, most of them have worked here for 5 years or more and know the trade inside out.
Besides all the usual adult books we sell loads of children’s titles, educational guides and resources, toys, puzzles, games, greeting cards, wrapping paper, cds, sheet music and other non book items. There are armchairs dotted around the shop and customers are encouraged to linger and browse for as long as they want. We are delighted to supply local schools and special terms can usually be arranged.
We also offer wheelchair friendly access throughout the shop.
