The Hungerford Bookshop is an award-winning independent bookshop situated in this historic West Berkshire town. We have a wide range of new and old books and hold regular author events (sign-up to our mailing list). We also stock cards, book tokens, DVDs and notebooks. We are an Ordnance Survey Mapping Centre. ADAM NICOLSON: TALK & BOOK SIGNING

Adam Nicolson is an award-winning writer and presenter including 'Sissinghurst' which saw him turn his home of Sissinghurst Castle in Kent into a restaurant for the National Trust. As well as a book of the same name, he has written 'The Sea Room', 'When God Spoke English: The Making of the King James Bible' and 'The Smell of Summer Grass'.

On Tuesday November 11th he will be talking about his new book, 'The Gentry: Tales of the English' that explores the history of England through fourteen remarkable families.

Adam Nicolson is the son of writer Nigel Nicolson and the grandson of Vita Sackville-West and Sir Harold Nicolson. He is married to Sarah Raven.
