Author of the Month

Jeremy Strong

Jeremy Strong is the author of bestselling titles including The Hundred Mile an Hour Dog (winner of the Children’s Book Award), My Brother’s Famous Bottom and Romans on the Rampage. His laugh-out-loud books have sold over 7 million copies and crowned him the King of Comedy for young readers.

He was born in 1949 and at primary school his favourite times were playtime, lunchtime and home-time.  He went on to grammar school, where he had even fewer favourite times.  Despite his own school experience, Jeremy was a much-loved primary school teacher in Kent before he turned to writing full-time.  He is now delighted when he meets some of his former pupils when they bring their own children to his book signings.

Jeremy also once worked in a bakery, putting the jam into three thousand doughnuts every night. Now he puts the jam into stories instead, which he finds much more exciting. He loves writing stories because it's 'the only time you alone have complete control and can make anything happen'. His ambition is to make you laugh (or at least snuffle). Jeremy Strong has two grown-up children and he lives near Bath with his wife, Gillie, two cats and a flying cow.
