Children's Book of the Month

A reason to read...

A celebration of love in all of its wonderful, life-affirming and at times heart-breaking forms.

19 Love Songs - David Levithan

19 Love Songs was born from Levithan's tradition of writing a story for his friends each Valentine's Day, and this collection brings all of them to his readers for the first time. With fiction, nonfiction and a story in verse, there's something for every reader.

Witty, romantic and honest, this very special collection will appeal to both teenagers and adults, not only on Valentine's Day, but all year round.

Meet the Author David Levithan

David is a New York Times best-selling author. His first novel, Boy Meets Boy, started as a story he wrote for my friends for Valentine’s Day (something he’s done for the past twenty-two years and counting) and became a novel.

Amongst David’s many collaborations are Will Grayson, Will Grayson with Fault in Our Stars author John Green and The Twelve Days of Dash and Lily with Rachel Cohn.

Several of David’s novels have been made into films. His first collaboration with Rachel Cohn, Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, was published in 2006 and adapted for the big screen in 2008. David’s 2012 novel Every Day was adapted into a romantic fantasy drama, released in 2018. His second collaboration with Rachel Cohn, Naomi and Ely's No Kiss List, was published in 2007 and adapted into a film in 2015. David and Rachel’s Dash and Lily are coming to our screens in 2020, currently filming in New York for a Xmas 2020 Netflix release, with the same writer and director as a Series of Unfortunate Events and Riverdale.

As well as being a best-selling author, David is also a highly respected children’s book editor, whose list includes many luminaries of children’s literature, including Garth Nix, Libba Bray and Suzanne Collins. He lives and works in New York.

19 Love Songs, David’s latest work, is a collection of short stories in fiction, non-fiction and verse. Witty, romantic and honest, this very special collection will appeal to both teenagers and adults, not only on Valentine's Day, but all year round.
