Tom Gates: Top of the Class (Nearly) by Liz Pichon

From the winner of the Roald Dahl Funny Prize, the Best Book for Younger Readers - Red House Children's Book Award, the Waterstones Children's Book Prize 5 - 12 year-olds and the Blue Peter Best Story Book Award 2013, comes the ninth amazing instalment of this brilliant series!

If your name is Mr Fullerman, look away now! But if you're a kid who loves Tom Gates, look this way now! This brand new hardback is rammed with Tom's own tips for being top of the class. We all know Tom Gates is a pretty amazing student. Yeah! Even if Mr Fullerman would rather chew off his own nose than admit it. How does Tom do it? Just follow these pointers!

1. Stay awake in lessons (it helps).

2. Don't draw HILARIOUS pictures of your teachers.

3. AVOID the class bully.

4. NEVER let Mum and Dad touch your school planner.

5. Don't let your grumpy sister Delia BOSS you around.

OK: Tom may not exactly have followed the points on this list. But hopefully that won't stop him getting voted onto the school council. So vote for him now by buying this book and getting it to the top of the charts!

Meet the Author: Liz Pichon

Liz Pichon (pronounced ‘pea shone’ in case you were wondering) has always loved drawing and when she was younger she would copy characters from books and comics (especially the Walt Disney ones!). Liz went on to study graphic design at the Camberwell School of Art in London before designing record covers for bands and illustrating books for other people.

One day she had a brainwave and realised maybe she could write AND illustrate her own books, rather than just working on other peoples’. Since then she’s written and illustrated a number of picture books and, of course, all the books in the Tom Gates series!

Liz is married with three children and lives in Brighton.
