Marianne Gordon

By day Marianne Gordon works as an Editor for law at an academic publisher, and by night she loves to write fiction. She studied Classics at St Hugh’s College, Oxford University, which fostered a love of literature, language, and archaeology. She returned during the pandemic to the town of her childhood, Edinburgh, where she currently lives with her partner and calico cat. She has a love of all things fantasy and science-fiction, in particular stories which are grounded in earthy realism, and anything with cut-throat characters, unfathomable spirits, and clever magic systems. She draws inspiration from J. R. R. Tolkien, Susanna Clarke, Alison Croggon, Ray Bradbury and Shirley Jackson. When she’s not reading or writing she enjoys growing vegetables in the garden, cooking, quilting, or riding around the Scottish countryside on her motorbike.
