A Year to Remember: The 1940s DVD

DVD

Description

Historical documentary charting each year of the 1940s, a period which saw the majority of World War II's atrocities, the end of Stalingrad, and the subsequent post-war debris beginning to be cleared.

The 1940s were a time personified by conflict, strife and hard work.

The war seemed to stretch to all corners of the world, as far as the Pacific, North Africa, Russia and the USA.

At the beginning of the decade, Hitler went from strength to strength, invading more and more foreign territory and spreading his campaign of hate further across the globe.

As victory for the Allies came closer, the world watched in horror as the full realities of Hitler's death camps were revealed.

Post-war, the Iron Curtain fell over Europe, and in Britain, rationing continued as new Prime Minister Clement Attlee tried to move the country forward on a hopeful note, introducing services like the NHS and Welfare State.
