Description

German thriller set in 1979 following two families as they attempt to flee East Germany in a hot air balloon.

At the height of the Cold War, two families living in Thüringen decide to join forces to build a hot air balloon and fly over the border into West Germany in search of a better life.

When their first attempt to flee the authoritarian GDR falters, the families are forced back to the drawing board to take to the skies in a new balloon before the Stasi closes in on their plan.
