Description

Roy Noble presents this documentary chronicling the history of Cardiff, one of Europe's leading maritime cities.

Archive newsreel footage and rare colour amateur film combine to show how the city has developed over the years, with busy scenes of streetlife from the ages of horse drawn carts, electric trams and steam trains, plus of course the bustling docks.

Also examined is how the city fared through two world wars, and the tragedy of Aberfan.

Leading public figures featured include Prime Ministers David Lloyd George and Winston Churchill, and there is also footage of the city honouring several generations of royalty, from King George V to Prince William.
