"Please, sir, may I have summore?"This book is one of my all time favorites. A classic, Dickens paints a portrait of the struggles of a poor orphan in turn-of-the-century London. Yes, Fagan "the Jew" is a pretty racist character, but he also has motive for being a jerkface. Like all of the characters, he is just caught up in a hard life, trying to survive.Nancy, the sex worker with a heart of gold, is the best character in this book. Prostitutes were seen as trash, but Dickens shows that even "fallen women" have values.
