I really enjoyed this, the first book in a trilogy from the Chinese Sci Fi writer, C.Liu. An unusual story that starts during the cultural revolution with a terrible event, the repercussions of which effect the rest of the tale. The story jumps to four decades later, and an ongoing investigation into the deaths of some scientists, and an intellectual computer game that seems to be connected to it all. This is a book which I tend to think of as 'hard' sci-fi. Intrinsic to the plot are some quite intricate and high level scientific concepts, so it's not an easy read at times, but on the strength of the first, I'm looking forward to the second book, which has just been published here in the UK.
