The title of this book is taken from Proverbs 23:25: "May your father and mother be glad; may she who gave you birth rejoice." The message is quite simple""to encourage parents with preteen children to see God our Father as our Mentor for parenting and to enjoy the learning process on this journey of parenting. This is more of a WHY to parent book, rather than a how to parent book.
God, in His infinite wisdom, created families and revealed Himself to us as our Heavenly Father""calling us His chosen and beloved children. Sending Jesus as His only Son to show His love for us, God weaves the parent""child metaphor throughout scripture to help us understand what it means to be created in His image and for His good purpose.
Do you ever wonder why God created families? Psalm 68:6 states, "God sets the lonely in families." First Timothy 5:8 (emphasis added) makes very clear the priority of parenting to our Heavenly Father: "If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever."
Why does God bless us with His children to raise? Because, as parents, we learn so much about ourselves""and more importantly""we learn so much about why God created us and placed us in families. A devotional aspect is added to this book for those who want to use it as a personal devotional or in a parenting class setting.
