Phoebe Anna Traquair was one of the most remarkable figures in the Arts and Crafts Movement and the Scottish cultural renaissance of the early twentieth century.
Born in Dublin, she moved to Edinburgh in 1874 after her marriage to Dr. Ramsay Traquair. A correspondent of John Ruskin, friend of William Holman Hunt and Robert Lorimer, she pursued a successful career as an artist, designer and craft worker and achieved international recognition.
This book highlights her astonishing output as an artist and includes her work in a variety of different media such as mural decoration, painting, jewellery, book illumination and embroidery.
