Short-term projection of global fish demand and supply gaps : a life cycle assessment of three Asian systems Paperback / softback
Part of the FAO fisheries and aquaculture technical paper series
As opposed to most work that forecasts future fish demand and supply focusing on medium- or long-term projections at the global or regional level, a short-term projection model is developed by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to assess and monitor potential future fish demand-supply gaps at the national (nearly 200 countries or territories), regional (about 40 country groups) and global levels for nine species groups.
Results generated by the short-term projection model can be used by governments to facilitate the establishment of evidence-based regulations, policies and development strategies and plans, by development agencies or donors to set targets and allocate resources, and by fish farmers or investors in business or investment planning.
