If you've read volume 1, read volume 2. If you're starting with volume 2: *STOP* and seek out volume 1. It's that good. Why only 4 stars then? Just not a big fan of the art.

Spider-man has always been one of my favorite comic book characters so this is an easy choice for me to read. I know some people, including a number of friends, are not happy with the storyline, but I am enjoying it. I think it brings up a lot of interesting ideas and is just plain fun. What's not to like?

Am I really going to admit that Doc Ock is a more "Superior" Spider-Man? I am really on the fence about this. On one hand, he is way more efficient, and is much darker and more violent, but the jokes that made Peter Parker's Spidey so great are no more. Not to mention that this current Spidey has no emotionally stable center, like Peter always had with Mary Jane and Aunt May.SPOILER! We see Otto finally get rid of the Peter Parker spirit inside (and what an emotional issue!), but like all Marvel Superheroes, I'm sure we'll see his triumphant return at some point in the near future. The Avengers will probably play a role in it, as they have finally made a cameo appearance in the title.Looking ahead at future Volume titles... we have Superior Venom coming? and there is a Superior Carnage? Have we really found a place in the Marvel Universe that can take on the "dark, edgy feel" that most popular comics (see New 52) have come to adopt? It's about time that Marvel stepped up its scary and twisted factors.Also.... Goblin.....soon? Really? I am reaching for Volume 3 right now.
