The air of celebration surrounding fifteen-year-old Oz Vessalius's coming-of-age ceremony quickly turns to horror when he is condemned for a sin about which he knows nothing.
He is thrown into an eternal, inescapable prison known as the Abyss from which there is no escape.
There, he meets a young girl named Alice, who is not what she seems.
Now that the relentless cogs of fate have begun to turn, do they lead only to crushing despair for Oz, or is there some shred of hope for him to grasp on to?

This gothic supernatural mystery will be loved by all "Alice" fans. Mochizuki's work is saturated with references to it, most of which a lot of people won't get unless they have a very good knowledge of the books. The artwork, story and atmosphere are also excellent- and it gets even better in the next volume.

I must be in the mood for manga this month because I keep looking for new series, hoping to hit on a good one. This one seems okay, but I'm not positive what to think so far. The artwork is borderline for me at the moment (although most first volumes are less fantastic then later volumes) and the storyline is slightly confusing. However, since first volumes are always just introductions I will move on to the second and see if it gets better. So we shall see.

A really good fantasy manga with great art and interesting characters.
