Detective Megan Rhys is combining a lecture on sex offenders (she is an expert) with a holiday and visit to her sister in Borth, Wales. What she doesn't expect to happen is for a body to turn up in a local bog. And what she really doesn't expect to happen is for a morgue worker to be murdered before the age of the bog body can be established. When the Borth police department screws up, it's up to Megan, a fellow lecturer, and a new inspector to find the killer before anyone else dies. The writing is very evocative of both sea and bog (though I can't say if it is for Wales--yet). And though I did figure out what was going on (as I often do in mysteries), it didn't deter my enjoyment of the story.

Not quite sure what it was about this that I found dissatisfying. It was a reasonable plot, if a little far fetched in places, the characters were all reasonably sketched and the denouement ok. Maybe that was it... having read so many great crime novels, this was just ok and therefore didn't do it for me.

It was good to read a new author & pick up something that I wouldn't have chosen ordinarily, but not captivated by the author, so unlikely to read anything else by her.
