4 out of 5 (2 ratings)

Betsy Taylor, undead vampire queen, has been given a new nickname by her nearest and dearest: Bridezilla. Because whether you're alive or undead, planning weddings is a bitch.

Especially when your groom thinks the whole thing is a waste of time.

Betsy's also dealing with a full house: she lives with a ghost (Cathy), a werewolf (Antonia), a gay physician/human (Marc), her fiance and vampire king (Eric Sinclair), her best friend (Jessica), a recovering Fiend (Garrett).

But when Sinclair disappears, Betsy begins to get seriously uneasy...

Sinclair has finally coughed up with an engagement ring and seems on board with the wedding plans. However when Betsy's friends are all off on other errands strange things start happening to Betsy. First two people close to her die and then Sinclair disappears. Could it all be conincidence or is there a larger plot at work. Satan certainly seems to think so. Jessica spends the novel in the hospital where her cancer is getting worse and worse. Nick puts Betsy in a very difficult position as he would do anything to keep her alive or at least with him.

Having been very rude about the last book in this series, I find I'm having to eat my words - if the next book is in the same (slightly) longer format of this one and to the same standard I think I'll enjoy it.Betsy's wedding day is fast approaching and she's having lots of fights with Sinclair about it. But gradually, quite insidiously in fact, someone strips Betsy's friends and family from around her, by death, sending away, organising partners and more... Tina finally works out what's happening, but is caught in Europe so Betsy, warned that someone is doing this deliberately tries to work out who and stop them.Betsy is still Betsy... although she's developing a suitably ruthless streak. She's also proving capable of doing things when she must, which is nice to see.But what is really nice to see is several of the other characters are coming back into being characters rather than extensions of Betsy, or just background noise. Add to that a plot, a really quite reasonable plot and it turned back into the pleasure of reading a book rather than the drudge of watching (I mean reading) soap opera.
