ARC provided by NetGalleyYoung Hellboy is still not sure that he fits in at the BPRD. He doesn't seem like anyone else and people keep telling the Professor that he's dangerous! One night after hearing another man encourage the Professor to read a passage about the dangers that Hellboy represents he runs away and encounters...the Midnight Circus. A dark circus that tries to get Hellboy to realize to come away with them...and perhaps doom the world. What will Hellboy do?This is a relatively short book, only 58 pages, but Mike Mignola is at the top of his game. In this story we learn more about Hellboy's childhood and just how many people were afraid of him...including some denizens from hell itself. The story has parallels to Pinocchio (it's even mentioned in the story) with the running away, encountering a circus, even encountering a whale. And the artwork is a perfect complement to the story, with Duncan Fegredo's beautiful watercolor illustrations to bring Hellboy and the Circus to life.Although the price is a bit steep (seriously $14 for 58 pages?), the book is 4 out of 5 stars for a great look into young Hellboy's life.
