Description

When Maudlin City writer Charles Haas wakes up in a makeshift grave complete with a windowpane roof, he realizes two things: firstly, it's a scene from one of his abandoned manuscripts, and secondly, he must stop showing his writing to strangers.

After getting mixed up with a group of teens, Charles was both fascinated and disturbed by them and their cult-like culture.

Things turn dark once Charles discovers that the teens are in the midst of plotting a demonic dance party hoax, led by the evil 18-year-old Shawn Michaels.

Charles is convinced that they are throwing themselves into a tech-crazed and depraved oblivion, and that they will definitely leave him for dead.

The story is composed through a variety of devices, including Haas's narration, clips from new stories, illustrations, police transcripts, screenplays, and text messages.

This is a novel that refuses to celebrate the wild child within, instead seeking the greater emotional truth behind the teenaged psychodramatic passions of a deranged generation thriving in the millennial era.
