Speaking as someone who has yet to read the diary (I will, I will!) this was still a great overview of what became the phenomenon that is Anne Frank. It adequately personalizes her story and places her as one among many victims and diarists of German atrocities during WWII. Of course hers is the one that became most famous, and only a reading of the diary itself will demonstrate why. This book, meanwhile, also offers a good overview of general events of the time, while providing the Anne Frank timeline and wonderful supplemental photographs.

Small book with information and photos that explain 'the rest of the story.' Somber.

Wonderful! I read this one with my ten year old. The pictures help in making Anne seem more realistic and show you her life before it was invaded by tragedy. Truly helpful to those who have read the diary but wish to know more. Recommended!

My Mom had me read this book years ago, and then I pulled it off the shelf for this class. This is a story of a terrible time in our worlds history and the experience of a girl and her family. It was hard to read/look at when I was younger this book was hard to digest, when I read/looked at it a couple weeks ago it was still hard. This book was well written, it really paints a great picture. The pictures are very hard to see.
