The Fairytale Princess : Seven Classic Stories from the Enchanted Forest, Hardback Book

The Fairytale Princess : Seven Classic Stories from the Enchanted Forest Hardback

Illustrated by Su Blackwell

5 out of 5 (1 rating)

This entrancing collection of seven classic fairytales is organized around the theme of the fairytale princess.

Each fairytale is illustrated by photographs of intricate paper sculptures cut from the pages of one of seven books, one for each of the fairytales in the collection.

Su Blackwell's beautifully photographed paper sculptures summon up a magical world of beauty and mischief, while Wendy Jones's retellings of these favourite stories are fresh and lyrical.

Each fairytale has its own particular visual flavour: for example, the story of Sleeping Beauty is blue and dreamy, while The Princess and the Pea is green and summery.

I absolutely loved this book! I want to go buy it as soon as I can. The main idea of this book is the traditional stories of seven princesses and all their fairy tales. The illustrations are my favorite part. The illustrator uses pages from the princess’s story to create 3-dimentional looking images of the tale. For example, Cinderella is created using the book pages sweeping. The image looks like it was made in 3-D and a picture was taken to place in the book. The illustrations also varied from half a page to full page. I felt lost in the story with the amazing images throughout the entire book. I also really enjoyed the multiple stories tied together into one book. After each story was finished, the next story was shown by an opening illustration on one side of the page and a title page on the other. The introductions of each story I found to be elegant and intriguing. These are common stories everyone knows, but the way the book is arranged and the illustrations make it fantastic.
