Description

Alan Ladd, Robert Preston and Brenda Marshall star in this 1940s Western adapated from Frank H.

Spearman's novel. Detective Luke 'Whispering' Smith (Ladd) investigates when the Barton brothers (Murvyn Vye, Ward Wood and Robert Kortman) hold up a train, leaving a guard dead.

Smith is reunited with his old friend, railroad worker Murray Sinclair (Preston), but comes to believe he may be involved with the Bartons.

As Smith sets about bringing the criminals to justice he also becomes close to Sinclair's wife Marian (Marshall)...
