Description

In 1993, the Department of Employment introduced a national grant initiative to stimulate the development of out-of-school clubs.

This led to an expansion in provision of out-of-school care.

This study examines provision in Kent, along with other activities run by Kent Child Care Network and Kent Returners Network.

It evaluates the experiences and views of parents and club managers.

The issues raised are relevant to out-of-school provision anywhere.

Child care is rarely enough, on its own, in helping parents return to, or enter work.

The report also looks at the views and experiences of a groups of parents and grandparents who attended a parenting course.
