Cattle baron George Washington McLintock (Wayne), the most successful ranch owner in town, has his hands full with ongoing territorial disputes between government officials, new farmers and the Native Americans who are being driven away from the land.
When Katherine (O'Hara), Mclintock's estranged wife who left him two years prior, returns to claim custody of their daughter, he becomes determined to regain her affections.
