Description

Musical comedy directed by Melvin Frank and Norman Panama.

Set in 12th-century England, the film follows Hubert Hawkins (Danny Kaye), an ex-carnival performer who becomes a minstrel for a group of outlaws trying to overthrow the evil King Roderick (Cecil Parker).

In an attempt to gain access to King Roderick's castle, the gang plan for Hawkins to impersonate his new court jester and steal a special key which would give them access to a secret passageway under the castle grounds.

However, things soon become complicated when Hawkins becomes involved with Roderick's daughter Princess Gwendolyn (Angela Lansbury) and falls under the spell of witch Griselda (Mildred Natwick).
