Doing My Bit Over There : A U.S. Marine’s Memoir of the Western Front in World War I Paperback / softback
by David J. Bullis
Paperback / softback
Description
A twenty-one year old that wanted to do his “bit,†motivated by patriotism, fought as a representative of the United States Marines.
Based on the memoir written of his experiences in the Great War, we see frontline battles, suffering both heavy artillery bombardment, and machine gun nests spitting blue flame.
We also see what it was like to suffer a wound, severe enough to be laid with the dead and the dying; whether to live, or to die.
It was expected that he would die. Everard J. Bullis was a participant in Belleau Wood; Soissons; St.
Mihiel; and Blanc Mont. These battles are foundational to knowing most of the action the Marines saw in WWI.
Additionally, there are historical figures throughout, such as: George W.
Hamilton, “America’s Greatest World War 1 Hero,†and John J.
Pershing, commander in chief of all American forces in France.
